I can't help but think that the game developers missed a huge opportunity to include an online multi-player option. One could imagine dozens, or hundreds of players in multiplayer with this game. I'd love to know if or when that will become available as an option.

Although the idea you mention is great...I highly doubt it that there will be a multiplayer option someday for Pirates!.
Perhaps the competition is too hard, because there are other pirate related games that will be online playable only.
But some sort of linking up with a couple of friends would be cool though.
Well, first of all, we should wait for the official patch that they are working on, as I recall to have read somewhere on this forum.
And what the future brings...we just have to wait I guess!

Yeah, I have my doubts on a multi player game too. It would be fun playing with or against friends, but wouldn't that be kind of like playing the sims against a friend. Really not much inter action if you know what I mean. You could be in one place and your friend would be off plundering way across the Carribean and you might never see him! But you could team up that would be fun. Yeah I would go for a multi player Pirates game. It would be nice...

I too like the idea of a Massive Online Multiplayer Enviroment set in seventeenth century Caribbean.
You could have all sorts of different careers. Similar to Star Wars Galaxies.

Yeah, you could also have a choice whether you wanted to be a pirate, or a governor of a city, or a merchant, or a navy captain as a career, each with their own career path. It would be alot different, but you could then have aliances, join forces against other teams etc. But even a co-op mode would be good, and fleet battles could be introduced!
