They really exist, and where can I steal one of them?
I ended five games, at 46-47 years old, all of them, and never I saw one of those vessels.
Help, please. |

I only saw one SOL in my last game (which ended at 4:30 this morning... heheh) at adventurer level. I 'bout dropped my teeth and couldn't get turned around fast enough before it was too far in front of me to catch... and it had the wind at its back, which didn't help none. I usually keep the large frigate after defeating Capt. Morgan and stealing his stash of spiced rum. I like the large fast ships.
Once I went up against Mendoza and his Fast Galleon (isn't that an oxymoron?) with a decked out pinnace and almost lost my butt to Davey Jones. I barely had a ship or crew left by the time I boarded him (but defeated him anyway).
SOL = Ship of the Line (but also means S*** Out of Luck!)

I'm with ya there. Both on the Frigate and the rum! _________________ "To Wives and Sweethearts! May they never meet."

Read my new SOL FAQ (on Gamefaqs, link posted in a thread here) - it contains everything you need to know about catching a SOL (Or more than one ). I guarantee you'll catch one in under two hours of gameplay. Possibly less. _________________ Blondebeard: "Madre de Dios! Es el Pollo Diablo!!"

I can't believe how lucky I just got. I started my second game (well, third counting the apprentice one). The English took over San Juan within a couple months...and I got lucky enough to catch a Ship of the Line onit's way there after having captured a Dutch Frigte...and I took her as ym own.
A glorious day to be a pirate. _________________ Something is only impossible until it's not. |

I see about 1-3 per game as of late. in additon to the locations mentioned in Headrock's FAQ, I've found the cluster of Tortoga, Port-de-Paix, Leogane, Petie-Goave to be a good place to hang out to find a SotL.
you could always also take and convert 2 or 3 cities along the Spanish main to Dutch to give Curaco something close to send ships to. (have them maybe 2 cities away on each side) a Curaco, Cumana pair produced the latest one I've seen. That way, you can plunder Spanish ships while you wait for the dutch to make your SotL.
btw, I usually just attack and sink them for fun as of late. I'm a Royal Sloop fan _________________ Check this out -----> piratehaven.net |

Like the FAQ says, you can develop your own "Killing Field" in several locations, and basically you don't even need one to catch a SOL, but the Lesser Antilles are my favourite because there is minimal east-west sailing between any of the islands. Besides, they're so close together it's pretty hard to miss a SOL headed into any of them.
KENSAI:
Visit www.gamefaqs.com to find my FAQ. It's free, and easy to find too. There's alot of other interesting stuff in there, like how to fight with a frigate. _________________ Blondebeard: "Madre de Dios! Es el Pollo Diablo!!"

Thanks, Headrock, I´m reading your FAQ and is very interesting.
I ended a game yesterday, and follow your hint about "killing field", but no SOL. Best luck next time.
At least I was so bored to sink every ship around me (English and Frenchies) that I decided to do something else different.
I started the game at 1880, and very curious, I didn´t saw any "New Warship" in all the game, like before I did. Weird.
Enjoy your travel to China! |
