Something that hardly even seems to exist. Worthy of its name.
Infineon has been working on a PC-Console hybrid for years now. They plan to sell/rent games though a broadband download service. Their have been some weird pictures of the thing looking more like a deluxe toaster than a console. The whole thing looks like something a StormTrooper would carry around to communicate with Darth Vader while he's assaulting Rebels.
Thing is, it's become a great source of hilarity over the years. No one seems to believe they can pull it off. And if you think about it, why should they. Infinium doesn't have the bank account that MS, Sony or Nintendo have. Not by a long shot. Remember how hard a time MS had launchin the Xbox? Think of the money they threw at it... The most fun thing though, is all the controversy and rumours about the company and its owners.
Anyways, if you're interested, check out:

Game console.
Was just browsing their site. They were supposed to be launching in November, but I can't find any game line-up anywhere.
Seems to me they delayed because they still haven't found enough publishers who are interested. |

On Demand gaming... lets see... Sega did this quite a few years ago with there Sega Genisis where you purchased games or more like rented games to play through a cable channel... which amazes me why it took Cable companies so long to come up with broadband ..when that was using the same premise. |
