Hello!

I am currently on my first playthrough, and have gathered all 4 peices of the hideout map. Sadly, there is only one peice of tiny coast with a landmark I cannot find on it (shall post a screenshot after this post)

I landed on that coastline full of settlements, and found an area with lots of "landmarks" I "canno't walk through", but every single gyser is coupled with it's own inca temple, and there are two sets of two cabins, and the two stone heads are NOT near a single dead tree, nor can i find the two dead trees next to the hideout...only sets of 3 dead trees.

It is terribly frustrating, as i am in 1684, and will probably need to retire, and I really want to find this hideout...can anyone commit themselves to my plea? (screenshot to follow)

I'm just guessing here but that lake is probably the inland lake, its in the "corner" between Belice and Honduras, sorry I don't know how to describe it...

oh wait I think I have a screenshot from a previous game

See if the Captain's Reef landmark from your map is in the inland lake you described - if so, then you will know you're searching in the right area.

In my last game, I had to search this same area for Montalban's hideout and two different lost cities. I found that these maps were not as accurate as those for the pirate treasures - I just had to march around the area until I stumbled into it. If you find yourself marching into an area without any landmarks, then you know you have gone too far.

Good luck!

P.S. The most distinctive landmark on your map close to the hideout is the Indian Totem. If you find an Indian Totem, search the area around it thoroughly.

Many thanks, I shall have a good hunt for it and post back with news of my success (or blundering failure)

I have found it!

Graedus, you were right. I was looking somewhere completely different, but with those significant landmarks. The captains reef was inland, after that it was pretty simple.

Sadly, after winning the landbattle, I am unable to win the sword fight Crying or Very sad ...I'm too old and slow, i need to time it THE MOMENT he moves for the correct block, and even after jumping his slash, i cannot get a Rapier attack in...i've got to my 8th attempt and given up...but i know i'll be back

Thanks much for your help, much appreciated

Update: I did it! Loaded from a save a year previous and bought the silk fencing shirt (i didn't realise there was a second shirt), which made my swordfight forgiving enough for me to win! 100,000 gold!

Thanks again for your help Smile
