|
|
First off, I've been gone for quite some time, maybe a year, maybe less. In any case, I'm planning on picking up pirating once again.
Secondly, I was looking around the site and I noticed that I can no longer find headrock's ridiculously detailed guide to the capture and sailing of SotLs! I checked the GUIDE section, and it just ain't there. Am I halucinating? Again?
EDIT: Ok, I found it, on the second page of the news, but it's not in the GUIDE section anymore. _________________ "After all, suprise is on our side."

You certainly are correct. It doesn't seem to be in the Guide section.
I'll see what I can do about getting it there. It's a guide so it should be listed with the other guides!
Thanks for pointing this out.
And... Welcome back to HoP and Pirates! _________________

It _WAS_ listed with all the other guides!!!
GRRRRR....
What bugs me more is that when I pointed it out, no one even noticed.

Hmm, that is odd indeed. I just checked the filedate of the guides page and it seems someone worked on that page on the 10th of June. I can't for the live of me recall when either Wolf or I last worked on that page.
I'll check and see if I can re-add it.
And ehm, headrock: perhaps you're less of rockstar fame than you thought you were.
*edit*
I checked 4 backups ranging from july 2005 to june 2006, none of the backups have any mention of the guide. It's a conspiracy!
I remember doing a lot of work getting the FAQ into a searchable system though, so it must have been on there at some point... Oh well.. |

Thank falc. Sorry for the outburst, it was just that the thing's been gone for a LONG time, and I've mentioned it missing before, but no one said or did anything...
In any case, maybe you should change that from reading "Sol Faq" to "Ship of the Line Guide" or something... the abbreviation doesn't seem right, there. _________________ Blondebeard: "Madre de Dios! Es el Pollo Diablo!!"

Ah! I thought I was crazy- every post from someone trying to catch an SOTL that I've seen was referred to Headrock's guide, but I could never find it lol! We'll, I guess I'm crazy anyway, but at least I know the guide really wasn't there.
Just so you know Headrock, upon not finding the guide, I read yer Guybrush Threepwood adventure, and gleening info from that, caught my first SOTL!
Maybe it could be titled SOTL: Ship of the Line FAQ for searchability? _________________

Lets all thank Buckaneer Rogers for bringing this to our attention, again, I guess. And to our fearless Captain for taking immediate action.
Also lets thank Headrock for his efforts in writing this guide. I'm sure as heck glad I don't sail an SotL. Not with the famous pirate Headrock always on the look out for one! _________________

Thanks for the great info Headrock!
I looked at the actual guide now that it's up, love the diagrams and sailing tips. It looks quite in depth, and I think I'll have fun reading all of it!
Like Howie said, thanks to Buckaneer Rogers for brining it up and to Falconer and HOP staff for getting it back on the site!

To quote Doctor Zoidberg, "Hooray! I'm helping!" Glad to see the guide back, and great to be back among pirates once more. _________________ "After all, suprise is on our side."

I'm sorry about that, HR. I suspect that might be because we (well, at least I) prolly haven't had the chance to read every thread on the forum in a long time... Now that my studies are finally over, I'll try to get my activity up a small notch... _________________ It is much better to be armed with a sword that has two edges than with an estoc [...], which is nothing more than a stick with a point.
