YEAH!!!! Ok, well I just started teh game and it was in 1660 and I was an apprentice. I had just captured an English frigate and then I went after Jean Laffite. I captured his ship and was making my way to St. Kitts when I saw a Dutch SoL heading for St. Martin, I scrambled my men went straight at it. I attacked it with my Frigate and after a few seconds of grape shot action, we boarded. The fight was VERY VERY ease as there were only 159 men on it. [/img] |

One phrase comes to mind: "It's better to be lucky than good." Though of course, I prefer being both. Congrats, be sure to use it wisely. |

On the flip side...
I have still not even seen a SoTL in my current game and I've been playing for a long, long time.
I've tried every trick I know to force one out of port, with absolutely no luck so far.
I've picked up a Large Frigate from Blackbeard and it's quite nice, but I do really miss having a SoTL to tool around in!!! _________________ 'Vast heaving! Belay there, I say! |

Try reading Headrock's guide to catching Sotls. I think it's located in the article section. He gives comprehenisive instruction on how to make them appear.
When you meet certain conditions in the game then they will appear. If not then you may be waiting for ever. _________________

Actually the FAQ on SOTLs is located in the guide section.
This I believe is the link. http://hookedonpirates.com/guide/sol/ _________________

It's an excellent guide, not just for capturing a SoL but also for sailing and combat tactics. I gotta say though that most of the SoLs I've captured have been complete accidents. They just seem to pop up for me, but because I have 8 of them already I sink 'em. Plus they're a nice challenge. _________________ "After all, suprise is on our side."

Howie,
Thanks for the link, but I've read Headrocks guide but it's not working.
I'll keep plugging away. I'm still having a ball with the game, so no worries. _________________ 'Vast heaving! Belay there, I say! |
