I was wondeering if the developers could give us an idea when a chat with them would occur and answer some of our questions about the new game? I know Firaixs and Atari does this for Civ3 and was wondering when something like this would happen for Pirates!? I'm starving for information someone throw me a bone here!!! _________________ Your defense is only as good as my last attack.

In the 3rd expediture 2004 of the Gamesstar (games magazine) in Germany (beginning of Feb.), there will be a preview of Pirates! When I read that, I just began to run mad...
I think, that there will be facts in your coutries as well at this time _________________ Don't consider a creation to beeing perfect, unless you sat on it from dusk till dawn |

We're working on it! I don't think there was much info for Civ3 this far before the launch of the product. We are preparing everything from advertising plans to press interviews, from fansite kits to establishing our own website. I'm hard at work with our designers on package artwork right now. And Firaxis is making great progress. I think you'll all like what you see... but I'm afraid you'll hafta wait a little longer.
Best wishes for the new year!

So, how much longer? Just kidding. I did catch the brief on Gamespot the other day though. Just let us know when that first chat is though

Well since there was a current version of Civilization out to play which was Civ II and all its other creations and expansions, you still could play with no problem on the new systems and even xp. Maybe people weren't craving for the new Civ III as much as us Pirates! fans which have been waiting a really long time for this to finally happen
Now trust me I went and bought the copy of Civ III preorder disk and watched the making of and waited for Civ III to come out... I had a blast with it although easy level was much harder than easy level on Civ II (differnt game mechanics..I am sure I will get it but civ II is still my favorite) You have to admit Jeff that there is a void for Pirates!. I think once the info starts leaking out to the public, you will see a surge of people wanting to play this game (IMHO). Of course the die hard fans, i.e. Me, just have to know now. Hopefully that somewhat clears up why more information has to get out than Civ III did. |

Well, I think that we should throw up a bunch of questions we'd like to ask the developers, so that when the PR starts up you'll already have a bunch of questions that you know people are dying to read answers to. I mean, isn't that why we've already had over 500 posts on this forum for a game that doesn't even have a website at Atari. We're all fanatics here and are craving info, even if we have to make it up ourselves. Rant, Rant, Rant....
Anyways here's the questions I'd like to see asked:
1. Will there be any type of after-sale mod tools that the community can use to add to the game? Can we make our own events or stories that players can download and run into, or something similar?
2. Will there be cut-scenes in the game for dramatic effect after completing certain quests? Like finding your long-lost siblings or the Inca gold in the original Pirates!.
3. Will your character change due to age or wounds taken in battles? Peg-leg, or the proverbial hook.
4. Will you be able to increase you skills as a Captain during battles by scoring hits either during ship to ship combat or on deck fighting with the sword?
5. Will attacking settlements have any other affects other than raising you notoriaty with that nation? Will nations start sending Pirate Hunters after you or something similar?
6. What about scurvy? No just because I wrote about it in my diary, but it adds a constant worry about provisioning and getting stuck in bad cross winds.
That's all I can come up with now. I'm sure there are a hundred more I could right, but I'll pace myself for now. I don't want to run out of things to do 8-9 months before the game comes out. |
