I call Henry Morgan's Large Frigate the Black Pearl. When I find a Ship-of-the-Line, I call it the Flying Dutchman, then I install Dutch governors in every town. Currently, I'm taking Pieces-of-Eight with a fleet of eight War Canoes:
Ghost Monkey
Renegade
Sea Turtle
Shadowfax
Queen of Spades
Crazy Crypt
Aku Aku
Osprey |

Ah. A name to strike fear into all sailors, especially those of clean mind and sensitive nose. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it. " George Eliot |

If I use an East Indiaman it's usually "Treasure" or "Fortune." I've had a war canoe named "Rapier" "Mosqito" and pinnace I named "Zorro's Blade." I've used "Fearless", "Invincible", "Enterprise" and "Revenge" for SotLs. _________________ The Code is the Law. |

Whenever I have had a SOL, I named it Shai Hulud. My other ships I have used various names, including but not limited to:
Jehu's Vengeance
The Gurney Hallack

I never name my ships
I just leave them as they are.
I don't really see the point in naming them, it gives no advantage. Sure in real life I would name them but not for a game. |

I printed a list of historic Royal Navy ships. They are my source of information, and the histories of the ships are good reading, too! _________________ Rule, Britannia! Britannia, rule the waves;

Every once in a while I see "De Hamer Van Thor" for a Dutch ship. If you are familiar with Norse mythology or details of the Marvel movies, Thor and Captain America, you may know about Yggdrasil, the cosmic tree. Guardian of the tree is a serpent named Jormungandr which I thought would make a good name for a ship, especially if you choose to be a Dutch ally. The Dutch don't have a direct connection to the Vikings but overall perhaps the closest of the 4 choices.
Pronunciations:
