An English Treasure ship
seems to be a mite more valuable
than rumor tells!

Any Treasure Ship that is not in the Treasure Fleet carries Ca-Ching on board.

It's the Treasure Fleet that only carried chicken-feed.

The Dutch Treasure Fluyts are quite juicy.
Even the Spanish Treasure Galleons are noticeably plump.

Not bad. The most I ever got off a single ship -- also an East Indiaman, as I recall -- was 6600, but usually "Treasure Ships" carry in the 1200-1500 range, with a few going higher.

Maybe I'm just being thick, but cannot remember a single non-Treasure-Fleet Treasure-Ship with less than 3k on board.

I figure, from what I've noticed since I started paying attention, I can come across two British and two French treasure vessels with 6000 (or so) and 70 tons spice/70 tons luxury, more than 1375 (I think) for each ship (depending on upgrades). That gets into the tall cotton. At a certain point, I captured so many, I'm flooded with numbers. Ten, twenty thou-wha? But, I like them better than the treasure fleet. More bread for less blood.

TWICE I've caught the Treasure Fleet, however, on the way to Europe and ended up with three equivilent resale value ships, roughly 5000 and the same amount of cargo, of the same kind. This may not be on the nail, but the difference would be negligible numberwise. I've caught this group so many times I'm starting to time their arrival with mine while I'm "in town" doing other things.

I view this in terms of the value of the captured ships. Lucky me! East Indiamen with cotton sails! Compared to those, lugging around Treasure Galleons is a chore.

I just last night had the chance to compare treasure galleons with trade galleons with treasure fleets and treasure SHIPS AND military payrolls, barques, galleons, brigs of war, frigates....WHEW! I'm a predator and I don't waste my time on voles when there's a juicey rabbit about!

Numberswise/score and money, you can't go wrong taking out trade vessels and smugglers. Racking up a string of those, the numbers work out more or less to capturing the treasure fleet. Figure you have a warship, and a cargo vessel, so max is six captures - one escort, one merchant three times. Doing this just outside a port near a busy traffic lane TWICE...twelve ships with cargo and promotion points, go back out and mop up capturing what raiders and smugglers in sloops remain. Probably about two of each, maybe more, and maybe even two pirate hunters looking just for you. THAT approach will get you farther faster in all point categories, including gold, than going for just payrolls, or high-end cargo ships. Promotions are based on quantity of ships. Cargo is based on quality. Promotions are what reduce your operational overhead. Repairs don't cost, you keep more money. You upgrade each prize for nothing, then resell at an even higher value.

THEN, while you're busy as a bee, one of those other ships will happen by, and you add it to your belt. If I "hear" there's a treasure fleet, I remember and if I'm up that way, I'll check it out. But, I'll probably make more money pounding away at all I come across on my way up to take a peek than I will if I come across the fleet of legend!

Knowing a bit about the habits of your co-inhabitants on the Caribbean goes a long way in finding plump fruit; the real treasure of the tropics!
You know we're in it for the vitamin C!

I have never ever seen the treasure fleet. The barmaid keeps saying "Puerto Bello" this and "Puerto Bello" that. Everytime I'm in the area I take a look around, but I've never seen it. Are there any tricks to finding it, any particular routes to search, or is it all luck?

The treasure fleet doesn't really function without the patch, I'm afraid, so unless you have it installed she'll just keep telling you they're in Puerto Bello.

Treasure ships, no matter the nationality, are prime targets to suplement your income. Especially late in the game as military payroll ships have little gold on them due to your raids. The archipeligo stretching from Hispanolia to Trinidad seems to have oodles of treasure ship traffic and is my happy hunting ground Very Happy

The treasure fleet scenario shows the fleet arriving, but is there one that shows where they leave for Europe? I've never seen any Spanish treasure ship further north than Havana. I tend to bag them when they're off the Spanish Main and aren't carrying as much gold.

Thanks in advance!

I´ve once captured a Treasure Galleon off the Florida coast. I think that´s the way they go after Havanna, up the Florida coast via St Augustine and then off the map to Europe.

Actually, I did. I was asking if anyone had a scenario that showed the treasure fleet leaving for Europe--without my having to follow it all the way from Trinidad.

Not that that wouldn't be fun, but--I'm more into rapid learning. Very Happy

Sounds like I need to hang around St. Augustine a lot more. Do they always leave around the same time of year?

Something about the Treasure Fleet bug.
Pre-Patch . . .
Do they ever come back?
Do they ever come back if you plunder them?

Ever?
