Are there any disadvantages in using higher ship classes?

For a Fact; Does the amount of Fencing/Getting Hit, really effect the speed you age??

I think it does. My First Two Careers (Apprentice and Journeyman) I was fair health at 24 ...

Now, on my Third Career on Adventurer, I have a nice upgraded Frigate that I pound enemy ships with until they give up. I only fight, escort ships and the evil NPC captains.

Cutting down on the sword fights has kept me at good health at age 28.
