1. Ships randomly disappear. Yep, one second a big juicy galleon is there, I turn to give chase, it vanishes!
2. No matter how bad you beat down an escort ship it will never, ever, surrender.
3. Land combatents are exceedingly slow. this is a crucial part of the game. You have got to speed these guys up. It would help if you just let us move multiple units along, as long as they are not in combat.
4.You can not sit still and bomb a fort, but the AI ships can.
5. When I take an escort ship that is escorting a treasure ship, it is carrying more cargo than I can hold even if I keep the ship. This has happened several times. Hate throwing out 61 tons of spices and 50 tons of food and twenty cannon from a sloop. |

There seems to be a bug (or more likely it was just poorly thought out when it was programed) with the escort ships and their charge. When the escort ship pulls up to you, supposedly they try to board your ship, yet when you win the duel, you have captured thier ship, and somehow magically it has the cargo of the ship it was escorting. This happens even if the other ship is still prepared to fight.
And, then there is the never surrender thing. As you said and escort ship will never surrender. You can beat it down until it is adrift, and unable to do anything. Then you can get the ship it was escorting to surrender (it will raise the white flag), however you still have to duel when you board the ship, as if you are dueling the captain of the escort ship.
It seems that the game sees both ships as one single ship, and can't distinguish between the two.
I have found that the best way to deal with it is to sink the escort ship. They may not surrender, but they will sink. Then you can do whatever you were were going to do with the other ship. |

You can force the surrender of the escorted ship and they will surrender without an ensuing swordfight as long as you don't make contact with it. Just pull up alongside and run out your guns fully loaded with grape shot and they will heave to. Assuming you hammered the masts down on the escort ship, and that you chose the escorted ship as your target. Then after you have captured the escorted ship immediately press 5 again to go to battle and the escort will run up the white flag without a shot fired. |

1. One thing for sure, galleon are slow, so it cannot happen unless it is that quest guy whose galleon is fully upgraded.
2. That is one of the problem when battling 2 ships.
3. Major problem. You are not alone.
4. Use space bar. Not sure if you need to be hated by that nation.
5. You should be keeping some galleons or indiamans or merchantmans to help you store stuff. I always keep 2 ships just for keeping cargo. |

I've noticed this too. I recently attacked a treasure ship and escort near Santiago and the escort was carrying 147 tons! (it was only a sloop of war). Unfortunately I was full so had to dump most of it. The treasure ship was also loaded. Both ships had 52 lux and 45 spice. That adds up to a very lucrative cargo so I'll make sure I have some extra cargo ships with me in future.
Another thing I noticed is even though the two captured ships were added to my fleet I only get credit for one of them in my log. |

Happened to me as well, and in a situation in which a duch sloop was almost touching the hull of my flag ship. Then, it suddenly disappeared, never to be seen again... I've had ships disappear in the distance before, but this was the first time it happened with a ship so close to me. |

Sometimes my ships blink out as well. Thankfully not too often.
Every try sailing your invisable flagship by the wake? |
