I do not quite understand your question though.
But if I just give it a shot...
I think that the top 10 pirate "endings" would be similar, due to the programming.
Sure, there are some small differences between them, but the main scene is the same.
Think about the pirate who jumps on the crate, swinging back and cuts himself loose too soon, ending him swimming.
Or the pirate who just stares at you, and at the moment he intends to strike you with his sword, he gets caught by the flying crate.
I once noticed that the pirate dodged one swing of the crate, and on the return of the crate he gets hit...
so you see that there are at least three different endings for the top 10 pirates.
Have not seen any other ending so far though...

I try to kill the numbers 3 through 9 pirates early in the game to get promoted. Taking out any named pirate counts a LOT towards getting promoted and early in the game I limit my ship battles to Indians, Pirates and Raymondo so I can get promoted very quickly. I save Henry Morgan and Blackbeard until later in the game because they go up much more in value as the game progresses. In case there are new folks reading this, the amount of money you get from taking out a named pirate is easy to find out. Just look at the "Top 10" Pirates page and then you will see how much each named pirate has plundered. You get 10 percent of whatever amount of gold they have plundered. If you wait until about 20 years into the game before you take out Henry Morgan, you should get about 50,000 gold from him. If you take him out right away, he is worth only about 18,000 in gold. Blackbeard is almost as valuable as Morgan. The other pirates are much less valuable.

I just kill the bums and take their gold. Thats what every good pirate should do! If they defeated me, you think they would care. They would just piss me off because I had to go back to my last game save.
I didn't vote in the poll because I really don't like any of those towns... Go figure, huh...

I usually grab a war cannoe get them all early, stopping at towns to restock and get promoted (by all the nations) and then I get down to wrecking some havoc of my own.
