not sure if this has been asked before. i have searched for indians + swordfight but did not get any result for that.
has anyone ever been in a swordfight with an indian war canoe crew?
they always surrender to me. i have to admit that since a war canoe only has some 50 men on board you will always outnumber them and that might be the reason for their surrender.
i wonder what their captain would look like in a swordfight.

Excellent topic The Aberdonian. I have never sword fought with an Indian. If I can catch them they surrender. I wonder if in the sword fighting animation, an Indian to be realistic should come at you with a stone club or something like that... LOL _________________

As an added comment. I'm going to try and catch an indian and have less men then he does. If I fight their captain and he looks like a Pirate, I'll be really dissapointed! _________________

I think that's an excellent little experiment, Howie. If you see anything interesting, be sure to grab a screenshot for us!
. . . and let us know the answer, regardless of the outcome. |

I've rammed an Indian War Canoe with as few as 14 men before and they still surrendered. I fear it's not possible to convince them to fight you. _________________ "Any fool can defend his or her mistakes; and most fools do." -- Dale Carnegie |

just came home from work and tried from a save game.
i used my royal sloop with 187 men against a war canoe with 50 men and they surrendered when i approached them. i then took that canoe to board another canoe and they surrendered as well. that was 50 against 50. i do not know on how to get below 50 men. if i let them fire at me they only damage the ship making it harder to reach them but they will not take away any crew from mine.
anyway: 50 vs. 50 they surrender.

Just having it surrender is probably the game writers way of not having to have a special screen when indian war canoes are boarded. Thats pretty lame actually. I think it would be funny having the indian chief come at you with a spear or even a captured sword, as long as he looked like an indian. I'm sure indians captured or took European weapons back then so it wouldn't be farfetched for an indian to have a sword. _________________

Just guessing here.
Repeat JUST GUESSING.
Removed for the same reason that Tobacco and Rum are not in the game.
Atari sat on it. |

There ain't. Already done looked. Know how to view it if it were found. You can convince the O'Pedia to display any KFM in the game. |

I think it is more likely that they wanted to save on animations. Also, indians with swords makes no sense, and it would be silly to make a whole different sort of dueling with tomahawks scene. |

And they made no attempt what-so-ever to save on animations.
Have you seen their Parrot? It is there! Where is it? The Alternate Montalban! Who knows how many different Spanish Captains?
For the at-war display in your Captain's log they use a different flag for the French right and the French left flags! |

That is silly too, but much easier to put in. It would be interesting to see them shoot arrows at your men instead of cannon...it would act sort of like grapeshot. |
