Does anyone know when the next generation of this game is due out?
Whenever it is, is it going to include online play, because this game is perfect for it, as many of my brethren have said here.

Welcome to Cuttlass Isle Shroobie. No I haven't heard anything. All I can tell you about a patch is to stay tuned to Cuttlass Isle because as soon as something comes out Falconer will put the word out. This is the best place to come for information concerning the game.

So I noticed. You guys seem to have access to information that even the official site for the game isn't giving. In touch with the right people?

A patch, maybe. There are rumors that they are working on a (real) patch. 
But an expansion? Donno. Firaxis seems to be very busy with planning other games (not yet announced) and working on Civ IV and the Xbox version of Pirates!. |

Well, it is my guess that they have the same basic codebase for the xbox and PC versions.
Probably the patch will come out around the same time as the xbox version comes out. Console systems always require a certain amount of test beforehand.
Probably they will just role whatever fixes came about due to the XBox QA, and maybe a few hardware fixes, and shove it into a patch.
That is what I am guessing, anyhow. I wouldn't expect to see a patch til the xbox version comes out. |

I don't really think so. It's just that the official site is so slow in doing things. By the time their 'webmasters' get around to doing anything on the official site, the details have already been mentioned here and at other fansites.

yes, i'm glad i found the fan sites as well. the game site... well.. was pretty much a marketing tool to post screenies, movies and info and now that the product hit the shops it does not appear to get as many resources any more.
not really surprised, pirates is the kind of game that gets a real hardcore fan community but wouldnt warrant as much company attention as the latest and greatest "look at how people sashimi flies around and be scared to death by your flipping computer" fps game
i think the units sold will decide on if and when an online version will be available. for the oncoming patch... lets start a poll on it 
I say it will take around another 3 weeks to come out |
