Shop suggestions requested

Hi all,

Been working on several things regarding the forum at the same time. Some of the more important ones:

1) Upgrade to a newer version of the forum software.
2) Installing a shop mod that will let you buy items.
3) Installing a mod that will let you post images without it screwing up the forum.
4) A surprise that I'm not telling you about yet. Smile

So, some of us have cumulated a considerable amount of gold, time to spend it I think. My question is: what kind of virtual items would you like to be able to buy?

Don't say blow up dolls, they won't be in there. Don't suggest a M16 machine gun, cause they didn't exist in the timeperiod of the game. Suggest stuff that works with the theme of the game please. Smile

Also, if anyone happens to know a place where they have lots of pirate-themed icons, I'd be much obliged. Smile

Suggestions

Be able to buy the different Ships
Be able to outfit the ships with Crew and Guns

Just a few things at the moment:

Various Ships
Cannons and Cannonballs
Muskets
Daggers
Different fencing swords
Crew
A Talking parrot
Eye patches
Hats
Hooks
Wooden legs
Pirate Maps (i don't know how this would work, but if you hit a certain number of posts, the pirate map would disappear from your inventory, but you would receive gold - like finding buried treasure with the map)

Um.....a tavern would be cool....maybe things for the ol' siggy? Hmmm....oooh, you should figure out those dollz - and make some pirate ones!! If you need a site for those doll-maker things, I have a few....but then, we could all have kick-butt pirate avatars....self portraits, if you will....

I think, maybe custom titles? It's not especially pirate-themed, but it'd make it more interesting than nearly everyone being a powder monkey (OK, that's coz the forum isn't very large yet, but still.)

Time for an update.

I managed to get my friend Chaos to help me with some stuff yesterday, despite his current busy worklife. We made great progress and I'm hoping to have things up and running by this time next week.

What you'll get is:
- An updated and cleaned up forum. This is mainly for security reasons, you won't notice this much.
- A forum theme that fits better with the rest of the site. I like the grey and white theme but it's a little out of place.
- More space for the forum. People have rightfully complained about the small window that's left for the forum. Those with higher resolutions will have more room now. I'm not 100% certain yet, but we may be able to maintain the current design without frames. That should also make things a little better for those with resolutions smaller than 1024x768.
- The Shop mod! We'll likely see 3 shops. One for ships and stuff, one for personal items and one for special things that I'll leave up to you to find.
- No more forum threads that bounce out of the frameset or otherwise kill the design. PiratesFan found a nice little mod that helps with that. It's installed in the test environment and works liek a charm.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to postpone the surprise a little. I got everything to work properly but it didn't work as expected/promised. It's no fun the way it works now, so I'm going to have to leave everyone curious about that one for a while. Smile

Shop suggestions are still welcome. Also remember that the Shops are easily upgradeable/changable, so good suggestions will always continue to be welcome!
