Avatars and icons

As a relative newbie on the Isle, I was just wondering what your avatar and the icons under it do, other than sort of denote status.

The icons under your avatar are 'purchased' in the shop. (see the sub-menu uner the google ad). Some of these items can be used to create your avatar (see Avatar in the sub-menu) with, eg the swords, pistols, musketoon, parrot.

Apart from that, the icons are only for your own satisfaction.

Well, that's mostly what they are. Kind of fun things to play around with. Also, if you use the forum avatar maker, you can only have the man wield the kinds of items that you already own (as the small images under the avatars).

Just a bit of added fun.

Forgot to mention that purchasing a letter-of-marque from various nationalities, gives you the option to use a scene from that nation as your background image in your avatar.

You'll notice that Wolfwood has a couple of them, and has chosen to use one as his background.
