I just added Peg Leg Realestate to the shopping district.
As you will notice, its prices are sky high. This has nothing to do with realestate prices on the island, but everything to do with me wanting to get some input on this one before people start buying.
We have the following houses:
- Shack
- Beach Shack
- Small Cottage
- Large Cottage
- Small Estate
- Fortified Estate
- Fancy Manor
- Mansion
I think that should be the order in costs, but my question is, what will they cost? How will they compare to ship prices?
Don't be shy, tell us what you think these should cost. Also, if you can come up with better descriptions, you're more than welcome to give it a shot! |

Land could get pretty expensive... A shack is not going to cost more than the smallest of ships, but a mansion I would think could get up there in price simply because of the amount of land it can take up, resources to build (would banisters, fancy marble floors and ceilings, etc.) and prestige that goes with it, making it more costly than the biggest of ships. _________________ "Beware the Death Star! Great idea Falc. A nice place to stay while in town would do wonders.
Of course, as has been mentioned a small shack should be fairly inexpensive, but still more expensive than say, a barque. Start out small for the shack.
A nice beach shack should be at least the price of the more expensive ships.
Prices should gradually rise up until the mansion (which should really be out of most members reach for some time. A possible figure would be somewhere between 50,000 - 100,000 gold. I'm leaning more towards the 100,000 mark. _________________ Shiver me timbers!!!

Wow, KW, that's pretty hefty.
Anyone else share his opinion? |

I know that sounds like alot, but honestly, how many people do you want to be owning a mansion. Shouldn't a mansion (especially around this era) be only for the wealthy? If you put the price too low, it would diminish the goal. Maybe just my opinion...I'd be interested to see what others are thinking. _________________ Shiver me timbers!!!

Again in agreeance with KW here... think the price of a mansion should at least be double the cost of the dowry on the governors daughters |

Haha, and the worst thing is, that dowry may go up soon! Still haven't decided.
Okay, so we want the mansion to be super expensive, but 100k when a war galleon is 3290?
Or are you guys saying ships are too cheap? |

I think a ship was much easier to get then than land or house was... Besides we wouldn't be much Pirates or Privateers if we had more housing than ships abroad
Also ... Should sort the housing to make it easier to tell whihc is lowly of low and which is the mack daddy house |

Maybe the top quality ships are a little too cheap, but really I wouldn't change it too much Falc, as we want members owning ships and not rowboats.
The mansions would have been built from stone too, which I'm fairly sure would have been far more expensive than the timber used to make ships. _________________ Shiver me timbers!!!

Yeah, then any newcomers would at least be able to sail (or should that be row) the seven seas. _________________ Shiver me timbers!!!

I think KW is right on the mark with his mansion prices.
Estates, 10K-20K gold, cottage 5-10K, shack maybe 1000 to 3000 gold. _________________ Mutinied to the good ship 'World of Warcraft' |

Shack 1000? Surely there is more wood and construction in making a sloop than making a small shack. The Price for things such as this should rise expadentialy.
How I see the prices should be
- Shack 500 gold, its just a wooden barn, really why should it cost a frotune?
there should be a large number of them
- Beach Shack 700 gold, for location, but otherwise its just a shack, not as
many of these should be avalible
- Small Cottage oh, around 2000 gold, a big step up, a few around
- Large Cottage about 5000 gold not as many around
- Small Estate 15000... because of the land, there should be only about ten
of these
- Fortified Estate 25000... due to the need to hire guards and maintain the
fortifications, only a few of these
- Fancy Manor 30000 only about five
- Mansion 50000 two or three
Thats how I would price it... _________________ Captian of the Ryokuryuukai!
