Dear fellow pirates. It seems like Captain Howie was recently in a very tough jam. It seems like he has gotten the Spanish very angry at him! How in the world could this evil thing happen? Everyone knows that Captain Howie is a very kind and gentle pirate and that he would never harm anyone. What should Captain Howie have done in this situation? As you can see from the below picture Captain Howie is just a lowly commoner as far as the Spanish are concerned. What would you have done in this situation? Please advise the hapless pirate Captain Howie... Nervous Lost

Hmm... I think you should plunder the town and be done with it.

Or, you could head for a convenient Jesuit Mission, speak to the Abbot, and have him propose sending one of his monks to speak to the Spanish for an amnesty.
You'll need to escort the Brother of course, to make sure he arrives safely. You never know when a provateer or pirate might decide to attack... Wink

If your a modder you can change the text file to read, "How about you pay ME 100,000 or I burn your city to ashes and give it to the pirates!"

One Possible Scenario:

Guv-"blah,blah,a payment of 84,000 gold,we will forgive,"

Howie -"84,000?,,,84,000! why I'm worth 150,000 gold if I'm worth any!"

Guv-"94,000 then?"

Howie-"WHAT?"

Guv-"Oh,come on now,,Haggle!"

Howie-"alrighty then,125,000 gold and no less!"

Guv-"99,000 and no more or may Zeus strike me dead."

Howie-"110,000 how abou--"

Guv-"DONE!"

Howie- "Alright,we have a deal then do we?Whot say ye?"

Guv-"Right for 110,000 gold payment,we shall forgive transgressions and,blahblah,blah"

Scenario 2
Howie Flat out refuses the offer, feeling insulted by the mere 84,000 gold
dubloons part of it all,,,,,

My tips...

1) Run him through with your sword...that should get it up to an even 100k.

2) Leave the town and return with all your crew and attack the town - that'll show 'em.

3) Visit the nearest abbott. He might be able to organise an amnesty on your behalf. But, do you really want an amnesty?

Howie, that's exactly what I expected you would do... No mercy should be given for governor's rude remark...

Am I the only one who think those Jesuits are just a little too convenient? I mean, c'mon....

Gov: Blah blah blah ... you looted every Spanish city six times and sunk every ship with our flag on it ... yadda yadda ... we want 704,065,675,000 gold to forgive you for your heinous crimes.
Me: Um, can you give me a moment to think about it?
(sails to the nearest Jesuit mission)
Me: Hey, Brother What's-your-name! The Spanish are mad at me, and I don't know why. Would you be willing to help me? Innocent
Bro: No problem, my son.
(escorts the Jesuit monk back into town)
Gov: Well, I did want to hang you up by your figgin and/or feed you to a swarm of army ants, but a travelling preacher told me you weren't such a bad guy after all. How about a Letter of Marque, and would you like to dance with my daughter?
Me: Schweet!

I have to agree with you SlipperyJim. 84,000 gold really isn't enough bounty for a dasterdly pirate like Captain Howie. I think I'll have him work on getting it to at least 100,000 gold. At least thats a nice round number. Stay tuned to the ongoing advantures of that bumbling pirate captain Howie... Smile

Scenario 3
The guvnah makes his offer, unawares that Howie takes pride in the Spanish bounty on him.
Howie scoffs at the 84,000gp "forgiveness fee",,looks the Guvnah straight in the eye and sez
"Previous offenses? You ain't seen nuthin yet Don!"
Then Howie takes his leave and walks out of the mansion, muttering
something to himself that sounded like ",,,sack,,,panama,,,for this,,,
maybe even cartagena for good measure,,"

Too bad ... the game does not allow Captain Howie to actually "kidnap" the governor's daughter... otherwise, I am sure the bounty would go skyrocket...

What happen if ... kidnapping the governor is an option of the game... I wonder what the approbriate reaction should be?

1) Goto the missionary and accept the mission to rescue the governor
2) Goto a near by settlement and bring in the new governor
3) You be the new governor by marrying the daughter
4) Promote governor's daughter to the leadership role
5) Send a message to opposing country and have them send a governor
6) Forget about the governor... who needs governor... Have the bartendar or the barmaid be the governor...

Very Happy

Orangebeard suggests that you say nothing at all to the Spanish....

...just let your finger do the talking!

Captain Howie is going to let his rapier do the talking where the evil Spanish are concerned. He will refuse to pay such out landish prices for a mere piece of paper from some over stuffed Gubna... Razz

Captain Howie has really done it now! That dastardly pirate has angered yet another nation. This time it's those prune faced French. What shall Captain Howie do now? Do you think he should have accepted this offer of clemency? It's a worse offer then the one of a couple of days ago. What is this sorry pirate to do? He is still groveling with the commoners. Stay tuned fine folk for the continuing mis-adventures of that bumbling pirate Captain Howie. Smooth Sailing
