Feeling his heart beat heavily in his chest, Tarrant dealt a blow with his cutlass over the head of the first enemy that he encountered. The man dropped to the deck like a sack of flour, blood flowing from his cracked skull. With no time to think, Tarrant stepped over the body to encounter the next enemy. He knew that if the small pinnace's crew were able to push him and his men too closely to the side of the ship, no more of his men would have room to board from the merchantman. He saw that his first mate, whom he had left in charge aboard the merchantman, had ordered the remaining men to fire their muskets over the heads of their captain and his remaining men. Tarrant felt enraged over such a dangerous manoeuvre that could have killed many of their own men and promised himself that he would confront Fredrik over what he had done. They knew that if they hadn't picked up a sword, Malmeduke would do them in, just for not fighting - but having noticed the demise of their former captain, they were free of his reign.

Malmeduke glared into Tarrant's eyes and wondered how this boy had grown up so fast. "So young Tarrant you think you know what it is to be on the high seas?", Malmeduke said while sneering at him. Malmeduke not being one to be so easily caught started looking around for a way out of this predictiment. He looked over and saw the small life boat and new if he could get to it, he would be alright. "Tarrant you sure have grown," Malmeduke said as he was making his way to the boat. He looked at a couple of loyal men to him to get the boat in the water. The men noticed his signal and head over to the boat nonchalantly. Tarrant wondering why Malmeduke seemed to be stalling. "Malmeduke, all your crew is defeated admit defeat!", Tarrant says sternly looking at Malmeduke and wondering why he is backing up. The men have already tossed the boat overboard. Tarrant hears the splash and looks over at the men. Malmeduke bolts towards the boat and...
