I use the parry all the time in my fencing, but mostly to stop the momentum against me before attacking. I haven't noticed more than the usual number of taunts, but it may be a question of timing - or what level you are playing on.

Timing plays a big role in it. Too fast and it won't work, to slow and you'll get hit in the middle of it. That reminds me - what is the purpose of taunting in battle?

It works in between Apprentice and Adventurer, I'll have to check the higher levels to see if I can get it to work.
