I try to save when i am on sea.
I go to the save section and try to save. Nothing happens and when i come back to the game, there is a message on the lower part of the screen telling me that there has been an error saving the game. Then, when i come bak to windows, ther is an error message telling me that
windows/prefetch/pirates.exe-006671ab.pf is invalid and that i should use the CHKDSK PROGRAM.
can you help me please?

hm the only explanation i have is that there is a problem with the pirates.exe file. Do you use the original exe file or did you download a No CD crack version?
Maybe reinstalling the game could help. That`s the only advise i have for you right now. Maybe if you have a second hardrive try installing on that one.

Check whether you have the save folder in your pirates folder.

Good suggestion also I would try to rerun the pirates install again... mean worst case scenario is uninstall the game and reinstall the game...since you can't save you wouldn't lose anything anyways.

I can't seem to find the Save folder in my Pirates Folder. Where & how do I create one? This is sooo frustrating.

Thanks,

Tim

Your save directory should be here -

"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Pirates!"

But you should have a shortcut title "Saves" in your pirates folder which point to that location.

The installation should have handle it properly. What OS you are using?

Check for a shortcut title "saves" in your pirates folder. You may need to create one or modify the existing one as it may have a wrong link. Check whether you are playing the game, and have installed the game in the same profile or login. I notice the shortcut is under a particular profile.

Where can we save the game? I tried in the tavern, the traditional place, and the icon is greyed out.

You save at sea in this version. Your right, though. In the previous versions of pirates you could only save when in port. Now that's the only place you can't save. I like it better this way since you tend to be at sea more often than in port. Very Happy

I think we use to save in the captain's cabin. You can only access it while at sea. I really miss that place.

I think that was another game. Some trading game along the European coast...

High Seas Trader maybe? It had a cabin for you to go to and check on things.
