The Settlement of Yerba Buena, was the original name of
what Californian City?

Hint:
The City Police Dept has the rank of Inspector (detective)
and if unlucky in the movies could encounter a Fictional Inspector
with a Model 29 S&W revolver.

The City motto (which is also on the City Police Dept Badges)
is Oro en paz, fierro en guerra
Spanish for Gold in peace, iron in war.

If you're going to that City, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
according to one 1960s song

John Edmund Andrew Phillips was an American folk rock musician. He was the leader of the vocal group the Mamas & the Papas and remains frequently referred to as Papa John Phillips.

What is the name of his daughter who had a major part in the sitcom 'One Day at a Time' ?

Hint: She also had a role in the film "American Graffiti"

The real Jean Lafitte had a brother who partnered with him in smuggling and piracy.
What was the brother's name?

Pierre Lafitte was a pirate in the Gulf of Mexico and smuggler in the early 19th century. He also ran a blacksmith shop in New Orleans, his legitimate business. Pierre was historically less well known than his younger brother, Jean Lafitte.

I remember Charles Laughton in an Abbot & Costello movie about Captain Kidd.
