Haha spot on, within the hour I posted the question. Well done, your turn.
Vitamine D:
'Human skin can make large amounts of vitamin D when lots of skin is exposed and the sun is high in the sky. Your body is designed to get the vitamin D it needs by producing it when your bare skin is exposed to sunlight. The part of the sun's rays that is important is ultraviolet B (UVB).' |

No correct answer yet. This is a tough one so go ahead and look it up. You will be surprised when ww2 ended for some of these guys. |

I seem to remember reading about one in Time Magazine circa 1975. He knew the war was over because of leaflet drops, but he didn't want to surrender. Eventually he came out of the jungle, and in the interview complained about the increased cost of Geishas.
I'm too sleepy to look this up. |

Well if it helps the magazine 1975 issue is only a year off so that leaves two guesses to hit pay dirt. |

The last known holdout surrendered December 1974. The one before him was earlier in 1974. His former commanding officer who was a bookstore owner or worker later after the war had to fly from Japan to the Philippians to relieve the soldier of his duties. He still had his type 99 7.7 rifle with 500 rounds of ammo. grenades and a dagger his mother gave him to kill himself if he got captured. |

Pirate flags. Most of them are black with various white designs of skulls, bones, swords and so on. Some are red. What do experts suggest is NOT an origin for the "Jolly Roger"?
a) From French "jolie rouge" ("pretty red")
b) A mark in the ship's log book
c) Nickname for the devil (Old Roger)
d) Invented by the pirate Joseph Liam ("Joe Lee") Roger |

Who am I?
I was born in Iowa in 1907 and graduated High School in 1925, President of my Class.
I had a football scholarship to USC but got hurt so they took my scholarship away and I left school. I started working for the Film Studios to get some work and eventually they made me an actor. I was in lots of "B" movies for 9 years and became the star of these low-end movies. Then, in 1939 I had my first break and was made a star in the top movies.
I was a leading star for 40 years, won an Academy Award and passed away in 1979.
