Top 10 Surprising Facts About Pirates
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltL8TvSEcOk

Aug 12, 2017

Pirates have fascinated the masses for hundreds of years. Romanticized in fiction, the image of a pirate has crystallized into a bearded, peg-legged man, with a funny hat and possibly a parrot on his shoulder. The pirate was almost relegated to a quaint decades-old obsession until Disney revived the swashbucklers by rebooting a Disneyland ride into a multi-billion dollar movie franchise. The films star Johnny Depp, pretending to be Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, or as Roger Ebert once wrote, “channeling a drunken drag queen, with his eyeliner and the way he minces ashore and slurs his dialogue ever so insouciantly.”

10 Pirates of the Caribbean Secrets That You Need To Know
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptZ5RaxpDd0

May 27, 2017

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is one of the highest grossing and most recognizable film legacies of all time. In total, there have been four released films to date:

The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003, Dead Man’s Chest in 2006, At World’s End in 2007, and Stranger Tides in 2011. This year marks the release of the fifth film in the franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
It is going to be released worldwide on May 26, 2017.

Each one of these films centers around the eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow and his adventures across the high seas looking for long lost treasures, trying to steal the heart of Davy Jones, trying to get back and then keep control of his beloved ship The Black Pearl, and find the fountain of youth. Along the way he makes new friends, like Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, while encountering old enemies like Hector Barbossa, Davy Jones, and Blackbeard. We even learned Will and Elizabeth have a son Henry Turner and he may have a leading lady of his own. In the fifth film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, Sparrow battles against Captain Salazar, a foe we don’t know much about because we’ve never heard of him before, but we know he has a grudge. That’s good enough for us.

Jack Sparrow goes on so many adventures that it’s hard to keep track of them all! That’s why we are diving deep into the franchise to unlock all the buried secrets to bring to the surface.

10 Lies You Were Told About Pirates of the Caribbean

Here are 10 Lies You Were Told About Pirates of the Caribbean

“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot” is the opening lyrics to A Pirates Life For Me, the annoyingly repetitive song heard during the ride Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates, for the most part, aren’t typically thought of as trustworthy. “We’re rascals, scoundrels, villains and knaves” the remind us later in the song. It should come as no surprise that the film franchise named after the ride tries to be just as sneaky with their audiences.

As this century started, no film company would have dreamed of making a movie based off a theme park attraction. While reboots, remakes and wacky adaptations are common now, the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies changed everything. From the moment Johnny Depp makes his dramatically silly entrance, audiences knew they were in for something special. They just didn’t know everything.

No one could of guessed that Depp, seemingly perfect as Captain Jack Sparrow, was not intended for the role. The script seemed flawless, yet Depp and others always ad-libbed lines, with many unscripted lines making the final cut of the film. People would never know that the films’ director, Gore Verbinski, was scared of the original ride, or that Captain Barbarossa has a good, even if it’s not right, side. Keira Knightley was too young, and Orlando Bloom was totally lickable are secrets never told till now.

We’re tearing down the Jolly Roger to expose the truths on tales of lenient safety standards and blatant film flubs. Share this video, making sure everyone know the truth behind these “beggars and blighters and ne'er do-well cads. Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.”

10 Secrets About Captain Jack Sparrow That Disney Is Hiding From You
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le8Kaz7r_pU

Jun 18, 2017

To Disney executives surprise Johnny Depp was going to be different from any other actor they’d ever dealt with because he was going to do things his own way. This included maintaining a character representation that enjoyed the company of men and was rather flamboyant.

The compass that Jack Sparrow drags around with him throughout all the films also serves as a giant loophole in the film’s franchise since he’s given it away on multiple occasions and never had to suffer the repercussions as he does in Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Jack Sparrow enjoys a few things like freedom, being captain of the Black Pearl, staving off death and drinking copious amount of rum. Disney has not liked the idea of Johnny Depp’s portrayal since the beginning of the film franchise but after the skillful actor earned an oscar nomination they quickly gave him creative freedom over the character for the rest of the films.

Captain Jack was originally named after Hugh Jackman, but Disney decided to go in a different direction since Jackman wasn’t as popular at the time. The entire Pirates of the Caribbean idea came from a Disneyland attraction created by none other than Walt Disney himself in 1967--the ride was also Disney’s last creation before his death.

Jack Sparrow impersonators have taken over the cosplay world, and they’ve also tried to threaten their way onto filming sets with the real Jack Sparrow. No one truly knows how old Jack Sparrow is, and perhaps that’s for the best. After all, age is just a number and Jack Sparrow knows how to have a good time and cause a ruckus.

When we say Johnny Depp has creative freedom, we mean he’s allowed to do whatever he wants including scoring Keith Richards to be cast as his father in the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

It’s not far-fetched to say that Jack Sparrow is clinically insane--if he were a real person we’re sure that he would be hauled off to an insanity ward where he could replay his hallucinations and listen to the voices in his head all day.

Nowadays they arrest serial killers, up until the 1800's they'd just give them a ship and tell them to bother the Spanish

Top 9 Pirate Ships From The Golden Age of Piracy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tw8f05gKo8

Popular culture adores pirates, especially the iconic figures from the golden age of piracy. Our fascination with these notorious outlaws seems to last for ages. The psychological strength of these people amazes us. Their stories excite us. On a deeper level, we admire - and idealize - the ethics and moral they followed. Ultimately, they were all rebels against establishment. They managed to create parallel structures of society and thus became widely accepted symbols of freedom.

The strength and authority of each of these incredible people were mirrored in their ships. Each of their individual stories is also closely tied with a flagship under their command. Typically, the most significant moment in life and career of every pirate is the day and event that made him a captain of a ship. Poignant stories about the deaths of these legendary men are also strongly related to their ships.

Until today, only three recognizable pirate shipwrecks have been found: Black Sam Bellamy's Whydah, Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge, and Joseph Bannister's Golden Fleece. As for the rest of the list - contemporary adventurists around the globe actively struggle to find the remains of these ships and other artifacts of pirate history. Until then, we can reconstruct their features from various documents, stories, illustrations, and other sources.

OK so new mission - play 1660, finish up by late 1679, and then sail to the edge of the map... then start a new game in the East Indies in 1680 and reload until you start near the other side Smile I hear the sea air on the journey across open ocean takes 20 years off your life...

What Was Hygiene Like On Pirate Ships
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSEnj2XDnWE

Weird History
May 31, 2020
runtime 11:27

Pirate ships were dirty - there's no way around it. The life of a pirate was fraught with danger and disease, but the pirates themselves did find ways to clean themselves and their surroundings - at times.

Maintaining hygienic practices on a pirate ship was an uphill battle. Lack of access to clean water, combined with confined living spaces, led to the rapid spread of disease. Harsh elements and inadequate nutrition further contributed to generally poor health. Baths, laundry, and oral hygiene were at a minimum, even with a somewhat surprising amount of medical resources.
