Well, no luck so far. I wiped out the Spanish and then escorted immigrants, sugar plants and Governors to Towns of countries at war with Spain. I captured the Spanish Privateers and they had very little gold. I have not seen any Spanish Military Payroll ships. In fact, I see very few Spanish ships at all. My pirate is now 41 years old and I have left Henry Morgan alone the whole game. He is worth over 55,000 gold now. |

Still no luck finding Spanish Military Payroll ships. All Spanish shipping has gone except for the annual Treasure Fleet. It still arrives NE of Trinidad but instead of it sailing due west to Cumana, it heads NW south of St. Lucia and then west of Puerto Rico. It continues NW past Eleuthra and Grand Bahama until it is about 300 miles due East of St. Augustine, then it heads NE back to Europe - or at least it WOULD but for me not capturing the ships.
So, looks like the gold bug was fixed and the computer does not automatically generate Spanish Military Payroll ships. Now I have no more Spanish ships to plunder!
As expected, the Treasure ships from Europe are carrying either Goods or Luxuries plus some gold and lots of cannon and troops, no Spice or Sugar as that is what they pick up from the West Indies, along with gold. |

You're not looking for military payroll ships, what you need to do is find which nation is at war with Spain, go to one of that nations settlements, talk to the Mayor and accept whatever he asks. On the way to delivering whatever, you'll come across 1-3 Spanish ships depending on your difficulty, preferably brigs ( they're loaded with gold). There is the odd chance that this can backfire on you and you get a ship with - 35,000 gold but once you reach this point you usually are in the multimillion gold range so you can afford to take a hit. _________________

That you Loki? You seem to have had a slight change of name and a massive loss of gold and rank. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it. " George Eliot |

Couldn't get back to the forum since my password got corrupted, then when I'd apply for a new password it would go off into the ether. My original e-mail changed it's address and couldn't get on here to make the change. Finally just said screw it and re-apply for a new account. Maybe someday, when an admin shows up, they can merge the two. So anyway, How are you doin? _________________

Welcome back Loki! Hope you are feeling well and recovering!
Thanks for the tip, I tried what you suggested and both times I was met by two brigs but they only had 100 gold each in them. I will go try again a few more times.
We have been busy here but there aren't many of us left!!! Did you see we got Gun Pierson back to say HI to us? |

Loki, I tried it three more times. The Spanish brigs only had small amounts of gold. Do I need to take out Puerto Principe and Gran Granada too? I've taken out all the costal cities. |

Lost a lot of picks from the old days from photobucket so no pics of these phantom brigs and some sloops as well. Thing you have to realize is this doesn't happen every time. I've had games where it would only happen 1 in 20 attempts. You can get pirates attacking the vessel you're protecting as well. Other games I've had better luck and could get as many as 1 in 5 pay big. _________________

OK, I've tried about 15 times now and will just keep at it. The Spanish Brigs always have around 100 gold or 1000 gold, but no more. I have escorted Immigrants, Mayors, Sugar Plants and Pirates but no luck so far. |

Very sorry to hear about the stroke. I'm pretty much the same, except older, slightly more broken down and definitely not getting richer. I'd like to think I'm a slightly wiser, better Mr. Blue, but I've got no evidence for that. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it.
