Which real historical pirates that didn't make the list would you like to have seen included as named pirates?
I nominate Edward Low. Although not all of his piratical career was staged in the Caribbean, part of it was.

Why not include the ladies...
Where's Mary Read and Anne Bonny? Were they on Jack Rackham's ship and we just don't see them?
Also, (maybe) put Redbeard in the game. Could be interesting... _________________ "Families are like fudge...Mostly sweet with a few nuts." |

I thought about this long and hard but couldn't really narrow it down any more. So here's my votes-
1) Emanuel Wynne
2) Henry Avery (I agree with CAPTAINcredible on him)
3) Thomas Tew
While Emanuel might be late 1600's, I think it would still be fun to include him (maybe in the "Pirates Sunset" timeframe). _________________ If you can't run with the Big Dog, stay on the porch! |

I kept thinking about Big Dog Barque's post (as I'm playing my Pirates! game) and it got me wondering if you could maybe mod the game to make pirates unique to a timeframe. Or do you have to have all in the same decade. Maybe have different pirates "become avalible" during each passing decade (or every other year) like in real life.
Sorry about this misplaced post, but I really can't explain it without Big Dog's post to "quote". I often have trouble getting my thoughts together.
It's just a thought. _________________ "Families are like fudge...Mostly sweet with a few nuts." |

I wouldn't mind seeing Prince Rupert of the Rhine, though I would count him as a privateer rather than a pirate. That's how he would have seen it. _________________ " ... the mistakes that we male and female mortals make when we have our own way might fairly raise some wonder that we are so fond of it. Nothing better than a good thread derailing. |

Thanks for the replies guys, some good suggestions. I like the idea of having a couple of dozen historical pirates/privateers in the game but spreading them out in time into their proper time periods. _________________

I think I'd like to see Sir Francis Drake and Sir John Hawkins represented in the game, if not as named Pirates, then as competitors you might join forces with for a raid, but you'd eventually fight duels with over command.
They are essentially what we are, pirates to the Spanish and privateers to the English.
There's also the matter of Capt. Kidd. Captain Kidd was an honorable pirate hunter who became a scapegoat. He was an able navigator and a powerful combatant. He was also arrogant, which ran him afoul of the East India Company. Many of his crew mutinied and turned pirate.
Robert Culliford is the pirate who should take Kidd's place as a named pirate. Kidd took the blame and notoriety for his atrocities. |

Perhaps someone could start a Kick Starter Project to raise the funds for a new Pirates !!! with all of our requests, with more Year Levels - even going into the future as Space Pirates... |

Well, I like your enthusiasm.
I think this forum, for one, would have to have a lot more activity to justify the organization effort. As it is, I can't see a market for a finished game, or enough hardcore support for a kickstarter. Unless it were some kind of under $5 smartphone thing.
What would that be, I wonder.
A sea battle/ stylus fencing game?
Who knows, I once messaged Fireaxis about making a console version of Pirates! years ago, and apparently they made one while I wasn't watching.
That's probably the place to start. |

You never know - I am a contributor to this project - a resurrection of a C-64 Game : http://elite.frontier.co.uk/
They raised 1.7 Million for the startup. |

That is very cool. I've heard of that Elite Dangerous Kickstarter before.
I'm assuming that Fireaxis still has the rights to Pirates!, and they just made an ipad version a year or so ago, so that probably has to run it's course.
I wonder how many advance orders it would take to get them to make a new Pirates! |

The I-PAD Pirates is quite good - with a Fort Battle min-game - and dancing is much easier - my 13 yr old daughter even play the I-PAD Version. |

How about Black Bart? That one is a HUGE omission! He was a major pirate for sure. |
