That’s a good game. Starting out it’s a difficult game unlike SMP. The Characters themselves aren’t more realistic but most everything else including the ships are better graphics wise. Sound is super and realistic. Not difficult to mod or make new cities. Easy to make new hirable officers like gunner, first mate etc. ships everything can be renamed if you don’t like the games choices. Sword fighting doesn’t have that back and fourth on the deck scene but rather you and the captain of the other ship fight in the captains quarters while the crew is out of site fighting meaning they aren’t a visible part of the scene unlike SMP. It’s harder to win especially if new and if you lose there is no prisons or other chances it’s fight and die . Sailing is more difficult and simply ramming a little to hard into another ship will send you to the depths below. If you want to try the game and it’s to hard on you just holler and I’ll fix ya up with a better starting player and ship if you want. |

I have mod tools for that game and a bunch of mods from Hoseheads Mercantile long shut down. May find some mods from Ellybe Islande site if it still exits. If not i GOT EM. The ships and combat sets this game far ahead of SMP. People will come after your ass out on the water here no need to start a fight with Pirates or enemy nations except trade ships won't come after you but they will sink u and fight. Pirates will come after you and throw a grappling hook to board you. You have to try evade them or whip them. Not easy either if you ram into their ship you destroy yours by doing so. Grappling isn't easy without bumping to hard into a ship but u got to get beside it or u won't be given the sign that allows u to grapple. Sound effects are top notch better than Smp. Water too. People Smp is better as well as the sword fights. Sea Dogs is just as hard maybe harder but u don't have the fighting scene going on around u instead you are inside the Captains quarters fighting the Captain. Sacking Forts is much harder because until you play the game awhile you will never get inside to fight. Those fort cannonos will put u under in a hurry. Only way to get in is knock the cannons out with yours the you have to fight the Captain of the Guard too andl et me say its not easy but a much better experience then SMP. SMP is a Hollywood pirate game with a good level of easiness added in. Sea Dogs pirates don't live long same as the old days. |

You can easily switch playable character model by using ingame editor.
(tools_launcher)
Be Careful. Some of these characters are really bugged and can crash your game!

Go into the game directory, and find a file named engine.ini.
Edit it with notebook, changing the first value from
CORE_MODULE core
to
CORE_MODULE tools_launcher
Save and exit, and when done, start the game, Esc through the Bethesda and Akella banners, and you'll be at the helm of the editor!

I have all the tools available that was used in modding the game along with tutorials on how to use them. Buggy characters I'd say from my experience they were trying to use a character that doesn't carry a sword like a woman and of course the game will crash she can't draw a sword. |
