Stay away from drugs, alcohol and tobacco; respect members of the opposite sex; practice better dental hygiene. |

The number one tool for success is a positive mental attitude. Stay positive, especially at work. Don't go negative and stay away from people who insist on staying negative. No boss wants to promote someone who is unhappy. If you don't like your job, find another one. Treat everyone with respect, especially yourself. Be honest and trustworthy. |

Do you have any unusual stories to tell, that a younger person would not experience?

Not unusual as would need to give that a bit more thought
I would tell a yonger person
to remember to release the dial on a rotary dial phone after daling a number |

This thread is quite open-ended. So... we can discuss some things if it is on topic. |

Probably not relevant
I recall seeing footage a few years ago
An Asian Girl Toodler had a Tablet and was doing the finger swiping to change the screen pages of an online magazine.
When given a published printed magazine, She was doing the
same Tablet swipes on the cover.
The look of puzzled bafflement was priceless!,
when it didn't work.
Didn't have the life experience yet of actually turning the pages
by lifting the corner of the page and turning it over.
Any unusual stories to tell that a younger person on Technology -
would have to figure out what old Tech they would likely
stumble over, that a google search couldn't help with.
Probably the concept of have a fallback plan,
and Just because you can, doesn't necessarily mean you should.
Exercise some Judgement,
and that most uncommon of virtues - common sense.
The Sci-fi author David webber, calls it in his books -
"Follow your nose".
In other works, be proactive, have a look at it and see where it gets you.
You probably need to work at it.
Don't depend on someone else to hand hold or spoon feed you
as that usually ends by age 2. |

Thanks again, corsair91. That's a little bit frank, but still interesting. |

comes from having way too many people looking for help
with software unopened, still in the shrinkwrap, yet to install. |

How about old science fiction? What has come true and what has not? (Avoid discussing books such as 1984 or Brave New World.) |

I am not discussing the topic of drugs.
Looking after my dental hygiene is a good idea. Thank you for the advice. |
