ahoy 'hoy!
this game was on my list for a while, but for one reason or another, I kinda kept putting it off.
then the steam sale happened. now I'm uniting all factions in a common goal of "sink the ship of that annoying asshole who is picking fights with our ships for no reason other than he's bored and wishes to make black beard look like a saint."
all the while i was whistling snakey shanty from dkc2.
this game is awesome.

one question - how the heck do i change my ships name?
i'm K. rool, and i wanted to change the name of my ship to "gangplank"

or click the Fleet Status Icon on the Numpad onscreen Icons,
or Function Key F2

Click on Red Rename Feather Quill Icon alongside the Shipname

found it out myself, but thanks!
now if only i can replace my model with k. rools.
unfortunately, i doubt it's possible to replace a human character with a beast like k. rool. but meh.

also i learned the power of 4.
i have a feeling the swordfighting wasn't tested properly. there's literally no counters to spamming 4 just as the enemy goes into a laggy attack animation.
then again, i only played on easy.

Welcome to Hooked on Pirates!
As your in-game character gets older the sword-fights will get harder, especially when you encounter the annoying English captain in the tavern.

i found out he only ages if you "divide your loot."
as long as you don't divide your loot, you are effectively immortal.
i notice this game has a weird allergy to death. like, your crew doesnt kill you when they mutiny (which is totally something any sane pirate would have done if i were leading them in real life, mind you), you wash up on an island if your ship is destroyed, enemies that were among ship wreckage just kind of... float there looking mildly annoyed...
i find it amusing. it would have been so easy for the game to just, kill you when you screw up and start you over. but nope. game only is really over when you are done and tell the game to end. which, i like.
though aging would be a time limit. (i found the game stops you from aging after a certain point.)

i am also using a trainer once i discovered it. it's great fun sinking everyone with the ship of the line.

The time I played a whole game at Swashbuckler, I remember a fight with the English captain late in the game, when I was old, going on for about ten minutes, after which he won because I was too exhausted to keep up my side of the fight.

The second sentence is true, but not the first. You will age over time, and there is no way to stop it. It shows mostly in your fencing ability, though you might not notice it because many of the special items improve your fencing. Even when you are in failing health however, you can only be forced to retire when you divide the loot.

I was forced to retire after 29 years of pirating after dividing the plunder. My character was basically ineffective and I did most of the gaming missions, so I didn't mind
