Wouldn't take much to move a city like Jersey or Portsmouth from the Storm Over Europe mod and place it at Whitehaven just by adjusting cityloc.dta and citynames.txt. One step further with exe changes and you could reflect the small population, emergence in the mid-to-late 17th century, and tobacco trade that apparently helped fuel it
The Battle of Fishguard was a military invasion of Great Britain by Revolutionary France during the War of the First Coalition. The brief campaign, on 22–24 February 1797, is the most recent landing on British soil by a hostile foreign force, and thus is often referred to as the "last invasion of mainland Britain".
I just added him as one of the Top 10 Pirates in the Europe mod, in place of Roc Brasiliano I think it was. Captaining the Ranger. nice to have some new faces
Then Lieutenant Colonel George Washington of the Virginia Militia ambushed a French force and caused an international incident and this was a contributing factor in the start of the Seven Years' War in 1756.
Washington was held responsible for starting the war by the French
& by some of the British.
Washington was later captured and signed a French language confession
(Washington didn't read French)
admitting to the murder of the French commander of the ambushed Force
and his men.
Because of Washington's prior military experience, he was
later named as commanding general of the American continental
army during the American revolution.
Washington probably felt disgruntled over his previous lack of advancement in the British army. If the brits had given out some more bling!
Francis Drake pirate/privateer exploits against the Spanish Main
although not sure if the war against Spain was already
under way by then.
Drake was one of the reasons the armada was launched against England.
Not sure if Henry Morgan caused a war by his raiding exploits
also on the Spanish Main.
Robert Jenkins, a captain of a British merchant ship, whose ear was cut off by sailors of the Spanish coast guard when they boarded his ship to search for contraband in 1731.
Seven years later, in support of mongering for war, Jenkins was paraded before the British Parliament, without his ear.
You have to wonder if his ear could start a war, what could the rest of him do?
The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serb.
Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia and the interlocking alliances involved the Powers leading to WW1
The US being financially over extended for the entente (allies) found an excuse to save its financial position and enter the war to ensure it's loans would be repaid.
(A German win would mean no repayments to the US)
