Last 4 Tuapse Sailors were only released in 1988


In 1949 during the Chinese Civil War,
the Government of the Republic of China (ROC) (Taiwan)
declared a naval blockade of trade with the People's Republic of China (PRC) which ended in 1979

Ships were intercepted & seized in International Waters
by the Taiwan Navy and this was considered Piracy.

Various Navies did merchant ship escort patrols
and shots were fired.
Cold war politics at the time, downplayed the events.
