Is it at all possible to change the names and nations of the evil pirates from Spain to England? As a player from Spain, whenever you defeat one, the governors are displeased with you.

I'd say there is a chance it could be done but it hasn't been done already to my knowledge. I do know if you change all the Spanish cities to another nationality they become pirates but that's probably not want your looking for.

The Evil pirates are probably hard coded in the game exe to be
Spanish Nationality using the #EVILNAME names

Can't recall that the memory hex address locations for this was
ever worked out
So no specific changing nationality mods ever released
(There has been nation swap mods for the other nations
excluding Spain)

I made a quick change to the piratenames_enu.txt file, and placed it in a folder named pirates-mod-evil-span.

Here's a link to that folder (corrected so it should now work).

Download the folder and copy the entire folder into your ASSETS folder.

No guarantees on if it will work. If it doesn;lt work you can delete the pirates-mod-evil-span folder.

I've thought about a complete swap of Spain and England in the files, making it so they operate the same way as before, except England would have the 3 evil pirates (originally it was to switch with Portugal in the SE Asia mod so they would have the treasure fleet instead)

might could be done but not without a headache and you better have time your hands . You'd think the hard part would be the exe. but wait until you go swapping the Spaniards along with their animations. Then they will still be off ship-wise the English Galleons and the Spaniards Frigates. Why do I know? Let's just say I spent my fair share of time tinkering around this game. Enough said said the dog named Fred.
