Alston was a River Pirate on the lower Mississippi River.
Arrested by the Spanish along with Samuel Mason for River Piracy.
Escaped and later attempted to collect the reward money for Mason's head.

Alston was recognized and identified as a wanted criminal, arrested, tried, found guilty of piracy, and hanged.
