Here's a video about how to do an interesting teleportation strategy in Pirates!
Sail into Port
Exit Port
turn ship around
Quickly re-enter port
If you did it fast enough
when you exit the port again
you will teleport to the nearest body of water that is
180 degrees away from the front of your ship
circumnavigate the map, the bottom wraps around to the top
see notes on Youtube screen

is the best part of the run by far. It's a super cool trick that I found
It took me a ton of tries to get it to work, but that's okay, because it is such a neat strategy. I'm hoping to get better at this one in the future. I discovered it a while ago, but I haven't been able to figure out how to incorporate it into a run until now.
In case you're wondering how it works, whenever you exit a location (city, settlement, etc.) there seems to be a cooldown before you can renter the same location in order to give the player time to leave the location, without being sucked right back to where they left.
The game also seems to take the entry angle of your ship and rotate it by 180 degrees when exiting a location. It then places you in the first body of water in this direction.
Normally, this works perfectly fine. However, by exploiting the reentry cooldown, you can maneuver your ship into a position where it is inside the location load zone while facing AWAY from the location (which would normally not be possible). The result of this is that you can manipulate the angle of the ship to teleport yourself across bodies of land by angling the back of your ship at the target you are aiming for.
Once you teleport across land, you have to perform the same trick again, but in reverse in order to get unstuck. Unfortunately, if you teleport to a random patch of land with no location, you almost always get stuck (I've discovered that you can sometimes get unstuck, but it seems to be inconsistent). You also have to be in one of the fast ships (like the war canoe) in order to be fast enough to use the cooldown.
One fun tidbit about this trick, is that you can use it to CIRCUMNAVIGATE THE MAP. Pretty cool right
If you teleport at the edge of the map, you'll find that you're able to loop around the entire map. So the map of this game is in fact not flat. You also get a bunch of cool glitches if you try this (like all the other ships going invisible).
Anyway, hope you enjoy this neat trick

Instant Ship Fight

So I found a glitch where you can fight a ship instantly.
My theory is that the game will normally move the ship back when you get too close to it and start a fight, but since it's next to land, it can't do that.
So you just instantly teleport into the ship and start the fight.
Unfortunately, this strat only works close to shore and you have to line your ship up right or it won't work. Luckily, you can often move closer to the enemy ship even if you miss and aren't able to teleport exactly to it.
I think that this could be useful for runs with lots of ship fights, like Pirate Hunter.
