|
|
Hi all.. whenever I click on a link to a HOP link in a post (eg : http://www.hookedonpirates.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7736, the forwarder changes to link to :http://www.hookedonpirates.com/forwarder.html?http://www.hookedonpirates.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7736)
and I get the 406 error. (this is in the current version of firefox, as well as Edge on Win 11)
Anyone else? any fixes?
Thanks! |

If you are trying to Right Click, open the hookedonpirates
link in another browser tab, that no longer appears to reliably work,
now may have the 406 site connection error.
Left Click on the link in your existing Browser tab
or paste the link in your existing Browser tab address bar
(you can ignore the http://www.hookedonpirates.com/forwarder.html?
bit
eg paste http://www.hookedonpirates.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7736
)
External web site links should work as before
At a guess, there has probably has been security changes
(possible set connection limits) made on the Server hosting the site
which forum users will simply have to live with.
Alternatively Hooked on Pirates is now very much a Legacy Site
(Started originally back in 2004) now running on old web site software
so could simply be an old software glitch.
EDIT:
Problem appears to related to the number of User connections
to the web site as has a better chance of working properly
with a low number of Users

Is there an issue with the amount of threads on here taking away memory? (I have no idea bout tech stuff)
If so, I think we really need to think about whether a lot of the posts and threads are needed, specifically those that have nothing to do with SMP. Mods should probably delete a lot of old threads that aren't related to the game or the modding community |

it is appears more the total number of active user connections (including guests) to the site (i.e. Server Ram or a connections limit) at a guess rather than the web site Disk space used
Links more likely to works correctly with a low number of users & site connections
When the user connections increase the 406 errors start to appear again

I believe corsair is correct regarding number of persons on line is the primary culprit, and that the number of old non-related threads is not a factor.
I have been deleting old, non-related threads as time permits ( I try to do several threads a week).
Very respectfully,

Having issues at times trying to log on to the Site
with 406 site connection error response.
Enter User name & password
and Site responds with a 406 Error
I found if you try the Browser back button,
reported as now logged on in the Forum
and can post as normal
(continue to use only a single thread,
but even that at times gives a 406 error)
More like to happen if currently viewing a thread
(or a large no of guest users) and then attempt to log on |
